This is a 18" x 12" open edition photographic print of my limited edition artwork "Lockheart", which isolates a single red, heart‑shaped padlock within a field of monochrome locks. The surrounding padlocks fall into shadow, anonymous and unremarkable, while the red lock becomes the sole point of warmth. For me, it speaks to the essentials of life — health and love — and how, when those are present, everything else recedes into the background.
As part of the editing process, I deliberately added a little grain to compliment the texture in the rusty padlocks.
This piece sits best in a spacious, predominantly monochrome interior — whites, greys, and soft shadows. In that setting, the red padlock becomes a deliberate point of focus, while the black‑and‑white elements settle naturally into the surrounding space. . . .
