My creative foundation has always been rooted in visual balance and structure. I studied Art & Design before going on to study Architecture at Liverpool John Moores University, later spending more than two decades working in the architectural industry. That experience shaped the way I see the world - through form, space, and order, and admiring the balance of light and shadow.

Photography became my primary artistic focus over the last twenty years. My work is deliberately composed, drawing on architectural discipline to create images with clarity, balance, and intention. I'm drawn to black and white, particularly low-key, high-contrast chiaroscuro, where light becomes the true subject, and shadow becomes the sculptor.

My studio is everywhere - whether I'm in a city centre, the mountains of Cumbria, or standing at the edge of the sea - wherever the light reveals something worth noticing. I'm fascinated by how light shapes a scene, creates depth, and guides the eye. Allowing the shadows to fall into complete black strengthens the narrative by removing unwanted distractions and simplifying the image.
