This is a 18" x 12" open edition photographic print of my limited edition artwork "Faith In Geometry" which is a fine art black and white image of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Liverpool.
The Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral is almost as synonymous with Liverpool as the Liver Building. Built in the 1960's but still looks modern by today's standards. It was designed by Sir Frederick Gibberd, who was the 2nd architect commissioned to design the cathedral. The cathedral's Krypt, was actually part of the original design by Sir Edwin Lutyen, which began construction in 1933 but abandoned due to the war.
A grade II listing was given to the Lutyens crypt in 1975, which was amended to include the entire cathedral in 1994. The listing was upgraded to grade I in 2025.
My interpretation of it embodies a quiet sense of hope and strength in dark times, expressed through the discipline and clarity of geometric form. .
